Kenall is represented by REPRESENTATIVE’S NAME & TITLE, who sits on the Leapfrog Partners Advisory Committee.
Based in Washington, DC, The Leapfrog Group was founded in 2000 with the goal of improving American health care by transparently reporting information people need on medical errors, accidents, and infections. Leapfrog sets standards and publishes ratings of hospitals and ASCs on quality of care and serves as the foremost voice for business leaders advancing excellence in health care. Leapfrog partners advise the Leapfrog Board and management on industry and policy trends and help shape the organization’s long term strategic vision for improving health care quality. The Partners Advisory Committee is a platform for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that advance the Leapfrog mission for patient safety and promote a shared accountability for patient safety and well-being.
“QUOTE FROM YOUR LEADERSHIP ABOUT YOUR COMPANY’S COMMITMENT TO PATIENT SAFETY, QUALITY, AND TRANSPARENCY AND WHY YOU ARE PROUD TO BE A PAC MEMBER”
“We are proud to join with Kenall to improve patient safety in the United States. We need their insights and expertise more than ever. Every American deserves the highest quality care, and together with YOUR COMPANY we can achieve our shared vision for excellence,” said Leah Binder, Leapfrog president & CEO.
One particular area of interest for Kenall is SUGGESTIONS TO CHOOSE AMONG
• Leapfrog’s leadership for patient safety is second to none, with a strong presence in Washington, DC, advancing reforms that make safety a national priority. • Leapfrog’s collaborative culture, working alongside clinicians, hospitals, ASCs, health plans, and patient advocates to bring to life a shared vision for excellent patient care. • Leapfrog’s founding constituency of employers and other purchasers of health care, using their voice as purchasers to advance “leaps” forward in the quality and safety of American health care. • Leapfrog’s reputation for integrity and scientific rigor in its work with hospitals and ASCs. • Leapfrog’s high standard for excellence in hand hygiene. The standard focuses on adherence to “best practice” hand hygiene practices identified by a national Hand Hygiene Expert Panel and adapted from the World Health Organization’s “Hand Hygiene Self Assessment Framework.” • Leapfrog’s pioneering work on diagnostic excellence. In the past few years, researchers have discovered that diagnostic errors contribute to 40,000 - 80,000 deaths a year, with over 250,000 Americans experiencing a diagnostic error in hospitals. This is a new frontier in patient safety. Leapfrog is taking on the problem by bringing together experts, clinicians, patient advocates, and employers to identify practices for addressing the these the problem—such as its landmark report Recognizing Excellence in Diagnosis: Recommended Practices for Hospitals—and then holding hospitals accountable for putting standards into place. • Leapfrog’s focus on billing ethics. Billing quality is health care quality. Unpaid hospital bills are a leading cause of personal debt and bankruptcy across the nation and cause enormous stress and avoidance of needed services that harm patients. Without that price disclosure and active use of funding subsidies for qualified patients, hospitals should not resort to destructive strategies like lawsuits to collect bills. • Leapfrog’s focus on health equity. Disparities in patient safety are stark and disturbing. A study by the Urban Institute in 2021 found that Black patients were more likely to suffer avoidable, often deadly errors than white patients in the same hospital with similar financial capacity. Yet most hospitals do not yet track disparities, the first step toward addressing them and improving safety for all. Leapfrog is helping employers and providers identify and highlight disparities so they can address them effectively.
